Great Prayer

At the Summit this past weekend, after a wonderful exposition on the immensity of God, Pastor J.D. encouraged us to pray this prayer throughout the week. I thought I would share it.

God, I have tasted thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more...I am ashamed at my lack of desire. Oh God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be more thirsty still. Show me thy glory, I pray Thee, so that I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long.
A.W. Tozer, Pursuit of God

P.S. I read this book while at CIU and it changed me.

The Hebrew Alphabet

As you know, I'm in seminary. One of the mental inflictions they have required is that we learn the original languages. This year I'm studying Hebrew. I'm terrible at it, it sort of feels like my brain is getting punched by an enormous, bling encrusted fist. Anyway, I took a quiz a few weeks ago over the Hebrew alphabet and did miserable. But if I had known about this fun little jewel beforehand maybe it wouldn't have been so bad.
I'll be watching this on repeat until I get it down. Come and learn the alphabet with me:

I Am The Rose

This is a clip from Matt Chandler at a Desiring God Conference earlier this year.

I am, in so many different ways, "the rose." This is one reason, among many, why getting the gospel right is SO important.

If you are looking for ways to "redeem your commute" (make the most of your time in the car), I suggest downloading some Chandler sermons to your Ipod. You can find them by searching for "The Village Church" or "Matt Chandler" on Itunes.
