Judah in Jumperoo

My mom's here keeping Judah this week while Thomas's parents are in Richmond at a training session. Grandparents like to bring presents and my mom never lets us down! This trip she brought Judah a Jumperoo. He's been getting really strong at putting pressure on his legs so we thought it would be a lot of fun for him. His legs don't quite touch the ground yet so we have to put a pillow underneath his feet so he can bounce a little. He seems to be enjoying it so far!

Jesus is the true and better...

This morning in my preaching class Dr. Akin used this quote from Tim Keller and even though I have read/heard it several times before, it really blessed me. I hope it helps you as well. Here is the insight of Tim Keller as he scans the redemptive storyline of the Old Testament.

It's All About Jesus (slightly revised) Published December 4th, 2006 in Theology and Quotes.

Jesus is the true and better Adam who passed the test in the wilderness not the garden, and whose obedience is imputed to us.

Jesus is the true and better Abel who, though innocently slain by wicked hands, has blood now that cries out, not for our condemnation, but for our acquittal.

Jesus is the better Ark of Noah who carries us safely thru the wrath of God revealed from heaven and delivers us to a new earth.

Jesus is the true and better Abraham who answered the call of God to leave all that is comfortable and familiar and go out into the world not knowing where he went to create a new people of God.

Jesus is the true and better Isaac who was not just offered up by his father on the mount but was truly sacrificed for us. And when God said to Abraham, "Now I know you love me because you did not withhold your son, your only son whom you love from me," now we can look at God taking His Son up the mountain of Calvary and sacrificing Him and say, "Now we know that you love us because you did not withhold your Son, your only Son, whom you love, from us."

Jesus is the true and better Jacob who wrestled and took the blow of justice we deserved, so we, like Jacob, only receive the wounds of grace to wake us up and discipline us.

Jesus is the true and better Joseph who, at the right hand of the king, forgives those who betrayed him and sold him, and uses his new power to save them.

Jesus is the true and better Moses who stands in the gap between the people and the Lord and who mediates a new covenant.

Jesus is the true and better Rock of Moses who, struck with the rod of God‘s justice, now gives us living water in the desert.

Jesus is the true and better Joshua, who leads us into a land of eternal rest and heavenly blessing.

Jesus is the better Ark of the Covenant who topples and disarms the idols of this world, going Himself into enemy territory, and making an open spectacle of them all.

Jesus is the true and better Job, the truly innocent sufferer, who then intercedes for and saves his stupid friends.

Jesus is the true and better David whose victory becomes his people‘s victory, though they never lifted a stone to accomplish it themselves.

Jesus is the true and better Esther who didn‘t just risk leaving an earthly palace but lost the ultimate and heavenly one, who didn‘t just risk his life, but gave his life to save his people.

Jesus is the true and better Daniel, having been lowered into a lions den of death, emerges early the next morning alive and vindicated by His God.

Jesus is the true and better Jonah who was cast out into the storm so that we safely could be brought in.

Jesus is the real Passover Lamb, innocent, perfect, helpless, slain, so the angel of death will pass over us.

He‘s the true temple, the true prophet, the true priest, the true king, the true sacrifice, the true lamb, the true light, and the true bread.

The Bible really is not about you is it? – It really is all about Him.

15 Weeks

I can't believe Judah is on his way to being 4 months old! Everyone keeps telling me how he's "filling out." He's cooing all the time, having mini conversations with himself as he sits in the bouncy chair or lays on his play mat. He loves to smile at pretty girls and is great at holding his head up all the time. He is even preferring to be sitting up more often so he can look around and not miss anything that's going on around him. The transition to work hasn't been as bad as expected and Judah's done really well with staying with someone else and taking a bottle. Thomas's parents arrive today at 4pm and we're super excited to have them here for the next few months. Life is good!

Thanks Kristel

Judah 11 weeks

You may remember these photos that Kristel took of me during my pregnancy and these photos she took of the Cranes when they were here in July. Well she's back again! The photos she took of Judah a few weeks ago turned out great. I can't wait to frame some of them and take them to work. If you live in Wake Forest and need a good photographer, call Kristel at Glowing Light Photography!

Baby Christian

Apparently, Leslie is an aunt and I'm an uncle. We are extremely happy to welcome to the world, baby Christian. Christian is the son of my brother Zeb and his very good friend Maria. He was born on July 26, four weeks premature. Initially he had to spend several days in the hospital but has been out for weeks now and is doing well.

Zeb and Maria have started a blog which can help you keep up with little Christian as he continues to grow and change through the upcoming months and years.

Congratulations Zeb and Maria!! We hope Judah and Christian grow up to be close buddies.
