Trip to the Gulf

Yikes! Has it really been 3 months since I posted last? I guess it feels like when all we do is study, go to class, eat and take care of kids, life is a little monotonous so I don't have much to write about. But there have a been a few fun things lately, hooray!

Susan and Sofie in the airport

A month ago we went to visit some friends in a tiny Gulf island. We've been before so it was fun to see everyone again and we had a great time hanging out and getting a break from our city.

$46 Camel's milk chocolate anyone?

It's also still warm there so we got to wear our flip flops again. I think one of our favorite things was getting to eat different food! We LOVE Asian food and it's kind of hard to find where we live. You can find it but it's either not that great or super expensive, so we don't eat it that often. We also ate good Mexican food a few times and my personal favorite was breakfast at an American restaurant. HELLO sausage gravy biscuits and bacon! What a treat!

Krispy Kreme!!

We went to see "Tree of Life." It's a 400 year old tree that's just growing out in the middle of the desert. Very strange!

After the Tree of Life we went to some man-made islands. I've seen pics of them before on Google Earth so it was pretty cool to go see some in person. From above, these islands look like fish hanging from hooks. I think Judah and Sofia enjoyed seeing the water!

Judah is in the house a lot while we're at school, so getting away is a big treat for him. He got to eat a lot of ice cream, go see a movie and play with his friends.

I was able to go get my hair cut at a nice salon. Sofia tagged along and was a big hit with all the ladies working there.

One day we went to a local cultural center where ladies go to do handicrafts. We were able to paint some plates along with some locals. I chose a verse from the Bible to write on my plate. It was John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me." It was a fun time chatting with some local ladies, drinking tea and getting crafty! Just up my alley!

It was a fun little trip to the Gulf! We can't wait to go back again soon!
